Nice Toast.

Following from last weeks post about room decoration. This week we take a look at something completely different. Food.

Many people will recognise this toast to be in the shape of Nintendo's portable handheld device, an NDS. My girlfriend who is an avid fan of the Mario kart series, found this dish simply adorable, and subsequently had to order it so she could take a picture of it and post it on to Facebook.

Who came up with that idea anyway? The whole "Wait wait, no one can eat anything until I have take a picture of it with my iPhone and then uploaded it onto Facebook and then tagged it with your name" thing. I understand if its something that is novelty like the toast in the picture above. What I do not understand is the compulsion people have, taking photos of everything before they eat it, including the cornflake cereal they eat in the morning.

Facebook could make something out of this. Include a rating system for the food. As iPhone photo headers already contain location of the picture taken, food critiques could be out of a job.

Last weeks Poll: Would you put a Soul Gem on your shelf?

Maybe: 1

  1. People take pictures of food and post them for their food loving buddies. I've had a few friends which always asked me what I ate today. Since it seems personal, it can also be a way of expressing yourself/opening up, it is photography, after all. It is also a very good way to keep a food diary for your new lifestyle. Just make sure to write down the whole nutrition under/on the pictures you store. After a few months, you'll realise you can now start guessing the nutrition in food you see quite accurately. I've learnt to, and this is a very useful skill to have.

  2. A food diary sounds like something that might actually be useful, unlike the 'I was here and I ate this' idea. but how do you ask your local French restaurant how much vitamin B2 your soup provides?
